DATE: Victorian, c.1890

A particularly attractive antique diamond solitaire ring featuring scalloped claw settings. It's set with a chunky half carat old mine cut diamond, and the scalloping east/west of the stone is exaggerated, giving the impression of split shoulders. Crafted in 18 karat gold, it date from the late Victorian period, circa 1890 - these rings are, in form, a sort of hybrid between the solitaire gypsy ring and the stirrup ring, albeit with claw mounts.
